Rinascimento
Rinascimento. Acrylic on canvas. h190 x w100cm. Private collection Turin, Italy.
David Alexanders’ unique paintings include up to 30 layers of colours, around 5,000 brushstrokes, and take two weeks to complete. Long smooth brushstrokes, methodically placed with attention and precision; shimmering, dynamic reflections, brilliant in colour and fluid in movement, appear and disappear again, creating an open dialogue between the viewer and his artwork. Each brushstroke can be seen as a soul, a piece of the universal puzzle, coming together to create a cascade of colours and a harmonious image.

Coolest Xmas!
My most memorable childhood Christmas was when I received an easel and a Polaroid camera while my siblings got the “cool toys”. But I loved my gifts and they made me feel like a real artist. So from the very beginning I was reassured that an artistic vocation was the right direction to pursue, and thus my artistic career began at an early age.
(I was then twelve!)

Bit About Me
The work of David Alexanders is a synthesis of varied phenomena as a result of a lifelong fascination with the interaction and behaviour of light upon reflective and non-reflective surfaces. Rare and exotic materials, symbols of permanence and longevity, join forces and intent with the painted canvas to create a space where light and energy experience their own behavioural changes transcending the surface.
The paintings employ his own sense of awareness and equilibrium creating an atmosphere of resiliency, encouraging the viewer to higher levels of reflection and manifestation. He creates the environment of a partly told account, so that the viewer can arrive at his own conclusions and possibilities by means of the artist’s clues and his own desires.
His unique paintings include up to 30 layers of colours, around 5,000 brushstrokes, and take two weeks to complete. Long smooth brushstrokes, methodically placed with attention and precision; shimmering, dynamic reflections, brilliant in colour and fluid in movement, appear and disappear again, creating an open dialogue between the viewer and his artwork. Experiences do not define us, how we interpret our experiences, whether they be joyful, despairing, hopeful or fearful, is what moulds us. The meaning of life is always a conscious choice from within. Spiritual energy is at the heart of The Angel Installation and it is intended to incite an inward pilgrimage towards enlightenment and personal freedom.
